11.00 am - 12.30 pm Regulatory + governance update
Our session goes beyond just telling you what the rules are, but also their practical implications on your board, board practices, and compliance systems.
Directors’ duties remain a key focus of regulatory enforcement actions. What are the lessons we should learn from recent enforcement cases, guidance from HKEX and other regulators?
The revised HKEX Corporate Governance Code goes beyond board refreshment themes. However, its impact on risk management and internal control practices may have been under-appreciated. Underlying the new Director declaration requirement, what additional work by the board/management/internal teams is needed? In light of the evolving environment, how should the board determine and maintain a defined but dynamic list of "material controls"?

Ms. Wendy W.Y. Yung, Founder, Practising Governance (on regulatory update/directors’ duties)
Ms. Alva Lee, President, The Institute of Internal Auditors Hong Kong (on internal control and risk management)12.30 - 2.15 pm Lunch break

Leading corporations, from different industries as well as background and geographies, will share the corporate perspectives and practical tips in their journey.
It is also important to appreciate the perspectives of investors, particularly those from Asia, against a backdrop of what appears to be continued interest in sustainable investing in Europe and anti-ESG backlash in US.
